FASTING AND SKITTLES RAISES MONEY FOR CHILDREN’S CHARITY
£400 was presented by 1st Twyford Boys Brigade to Twyford based charity Feed The Children (UK) this week. The money was raised through a 24 hour sponsored famine by older boys in the brigade, whilst the younger ones held a four hour skittles marathon at the Twyford United Reform Church.
“Children living in abject poverty often have to go without food and others have to walk miles for water every day, so I’m sure the boys’ activities gave them an insight into the conditions faced by those we serve,” said Brain Main, chief executive officer of Feed The Children. “This donation from their fund-raising is most welcome and will help us to help those children who so desperately need it.”
A total of £1,200 was raised, with on third going to the brigade’s own funds, one third to Feed The Children and the remainder to another charity.
Leading lights in the fundraising were leader Maureen Tate, who raised £320 and Mathew Steel, the boy who raised the most at £134.
