The Children of PakistanNeed Our Help
The earthquake left many children without parents and many of those also suffered the loss of limbs. Feed The Children (UK) wanted to help and with fundraising support from a group in Appleton Oxfordshire we were able to help 12 children. Aged then between 1 and 7 years. Each child will receive orthotic and prosthetic treatments until they are aged 17 years..
Help to children disabled by the Pakistan earthquake Brother and sister Ghulam and Saima lost eight members of their family in the Pakistan earthquake of 2005. On top of that, they each had serious injuries that resulted in amputation. Saima lost her left foot, and Ghulam, almost his whole left leg. Abdullah also lost a leg in the earthquake - and both his parents. He has been adopted by an uncle. Thanks to the generosity of a group of supporters in Appleton, Oxfordshire, these and many other children who were injured in the earthquake have received the medical treatments they need; a prosthetic limb and training in how to walk again.
They will also receive a replacement limb each year, as they grow, and ongoing support. Can you help? There are many more children in need of help. No child is turned away - we are also helping those with congenital deformities, and those who have had accidents or illnesses like polio - but there is a long waiting list.
