BOWLED OVER FOR BREAKFAST2LIVE

The Hollywood Bowl in Bracknell is looking to strike it lucky for children’s charity Feed The Children (UK) with their Breakfast2Live campaign. The Bracknell based Bowling is going to hold not one but two Breakfast2Live events to support the Twyford-based charity.
Strike one will be on Saturday 27th February from 9.30am to noon when bowling enthusiasts can watch professionals play and at the same time help to raise money for Feed The Children. Proceeds from a sponsored league will also be donated to the charity.
Strike two is on Wednesday 3rd March from 10.00am – 2.00pm when Hollywood Bowl welcomes people to play for just £5.00 a game including tea/coffee and a bacon roll.
When general manager Glynn Wallis was asked why they chose to host Breakfast2Live at Hollywood Bowl he replied, ‘’We would like Hollywood Bowl Bracknell to be key within the community. This is a great opportunity for us to support a good cause. Bowling is a sport all age’s can participate in. It’s a great way to fundraise for Feed The Children (UK) who support children both within the UK and abroad.’’
Says regional fundraiser, Priya Gehlot, “It is great that Hollywood Bowl have agreed to support Feed The Children and we hope as many people as possible will phone Hollywood Bowl on 01344 867700 to book a game on Wednesday 3rd March or come along and show their support on Saturday 27th February. Our Breakfast2Live campaign is to encourage people to eat a hearty breakfast and help to save someone’s life at the same time.
Cafes, restaurants, schools, colleges, businesses and people at home can get involved by staging breakfast events during the week Monday 22nd February to Sunday 28th February 2010 to raise money for the charity’s life saving projects in developing countries and breakfast clubs in this country.
As charity chief executive officer Brian Main explains, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we are asking people to take time out for just one meal to think about the thousands of children who need our help in this country and abroad. In the week commencing Monday, February 22nd we’d like people to run or join a breakfast event that will raise money for Feed The Children UK.
The charity has a number of ideas that people can use:
- You can host a breakfast and invite friends (get items donated and then charge a small fee of say £5.00 per breakfast).
- Restaurants and cafes can donate a small percentage of the price of a special ‘Breakfast2Live’ on the menu to the charity, or have a collection tin on the day and ask for donations to the charity from everyone eating in the restaurant.
- If you have regular coffee mornings, get a batch of cakes or breakfast muffins donated or baked, invite your friends along and if everyone pays about £1.50 for a cup of tea or coffee and a muffin you can raise money that way.
