Changing the world - one classroom at a time

  
 
Education is key to raising communities out of poverty - yet education, in many parts of the world, is a luxury few can afford.

In Uganda, primary education is free, but in schools across the country, teachers struggle with large classes, inadequate buildings and few resources.

Feed The Children is supporting eleven schools in Kalaki sub-county this year, with a total of 10,000 children benefiting from a nutritious meal every day and help with education materials.

The story below illustrates the kind of difference you can make by supporting Feed The Children.

A shipment from Feed The Children is unloaded; more exercise books, Crayola writing materials, and Wilko paint are among the much needed goods.

This classroom had not been painted for more than twenty years - and already looks much lighter and brighter.

Moses, one of the children, said, "Our class is now much more lively, we can see all the writings of the teacher."

 These children at Kalaki Primary school are using exercise books made from paper surplus from the printing of Yellow Pages directories, thanks to corporate sponsor Yell.

The classroom, though, is in poor condition, and dark.  The school has no electricity.
