Africa flood appeal
It's not just the flooding that causes suffering and death: we have seen from the floods here in the UK that flood water contains hidden dangers; it contains debris, dead animals, sewerage and all kinds of rubbish. The dirty water sweeps through homes, contaminates water sources, and in African countries, lies in pools where malaria carrying mosquitoes can breed. The 600,000 people left homeless are at risk from cholera and other life-threatening water borne diseases, because they may have no choice but to wade through the dirty water. The boys below are trying out their village pump - but the water has been contaminated. Feed The Children has its own staff in Uganda, who can quickly reach the affected areas - if you help us. We have already sent a 26-tonne shipping container of urgently needed aid to Uganda - can you help us with the extra costs of meeting the needs of the families displaced by the floods? Help us bring hope to suffering families - please donate what you can. |
