Emergency relief

Feed The Children collects goods and raises funds all year round, to be ready for when the inevitable emergencies occur.

Pakistan

Basic survival items such as food, tents and blankets were quickly on their way following the earthquake in Kashmir in October 2005.

Feed The Children is working with Sungi, a humanitarian organisation based in Pakistan, to provide for people left homeless and without their livelihoods.

Tsunami

The devastating tsunami of Boxing Day, 2004, killed around 250,000 people in south Asia.

Working with the Round Table of Sri Lanka, Feed The Children sent emergency aid to help the many hundreds of families left homeless.  A fund has been established to support the families who have fostered the orphans of the tsunami.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a country prone to flooding, and although there is no shortage of water, it is contaminated with sewage, rubbish and the bodies of dead animals.

In partnership with Rotary Clubs of Great Britain, we sent Aquaboxes to areas affected by flood in 2004.  An Aquabox is a complete filtration kit, enabling people to filter and purify dirty water, and make it fit for drinking.

Iran

In December 2003, an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale hit the south east of Iran, killing around 20,000 people, and leaving many others homeless.

Feed The Children sent life-saving food, blankets and other essential items.
